Reading: Joshua 1:9
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Trusting God with Tomorrow

Joshua received these words as he stepped into an uncertain future. A new responsibility lay before him, and the path ahead was not completely clear. Many of us know what that moment feels like. At different points in life we also stand at the edge of something new, a decision to make, a transition unfolding, or a future we cannot fully see. Into moments like these, God speaks a simple promise. You do not walk forward alone.

Jesus echoes this same truth in the Sermon on the Mount when he invites us not to worry about tomorrow. We often worry because we want clarity before we move forward. We want to see the entire path before taking the next step. Yet Jesus gently reminds us that life with God is lived one day at a time. The same God who cares for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field is already holding tomorrow.

When we remember that God is present with us today, courage begins to replace anxiety. Strength does not come from having everything figured out. It comes from trusting that God is already walking ahead of us and beside us. As we release the need to control the future, we discover that God has been quietly guiding our steps all along.

Reflection

  • When have I experienced God quietly guiding my steps in the past, and how might remembering that help me trust God with what lies ahead?
  • What situation in my life right now feels uncertain, and how might I trust God’s presence with me in this moment rather than worrying about the future?
  • What is one small step of courage or trust I can take today instead of letting worry shape my response to the future?

Closing Prayer
Loving God, you know the worries and uncertainties we carry. Help us trust your presence with us today and give us courage for the road ahead. Teach us to release our fears about tomorrow and to rest in your care, one day at a time. Amen.
