Reach out to those in need! The Outreach Center is located on the upper level in Room 204. Come here to:
- Learn about the ministries supported by St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
- Donate items for those in need.
Ministries supported include:
Project Hope, Inc.
- Project Hope, Inc. is a food pantry located in the lower level of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at 6201 North 60th Street in Omaha.
- Although we remind the congregation on the first weekend of each month (First Weekend Food Drive), STLC continually collects non-perishable food items, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap (full-size or hotel/sample size), small bottles of laundry detergent, and dish soap for Project Hope. Items can be delivered to the Outreach Center when you attend worship or during office hours.
- Find more information about Project Hope on their website at ProjectHopeOmaha.org.
Tip Top Thrift Shop (supports Youth Emergency Services (YES))
- Tip Top Thrift Shop is a 100% volunteer organization with 100% profit for the benefit of Youth Emergency Services. YES clients can get items from the shop free of charge. The rest of the items are sold to the public with funds benefitting YES. Tip Top is able to give tens of thousands of dollars each year to the YES program for homeless and at-risk teens.
- For your convenience, to benefit Tip Top and YES, STLC collects in the Outreach Center new and gently-used, clean, reusable items in good condition. For health standards, please follow these rules:
- All items must be clean. Any dirty items will be discarded.
- All items must be placed in sacks for easy transport. No boxes can be accepted.
- Clothing and household items are accepted, as long as they are clean and in working order.
- Books, both hardbound and paperback, are accepted.
- Tip Top accepts small pieces of furniture, but STLC has no storage space nor means of delivery to Tip Top for such items. Please deliver these items directly to Tip Top Thrift Shop.
- You can also deliver your items directly to Tip Top at 5910 Maple Street in Omaha on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Deliveries are accepted at the back door in the alley behind the Shop.
- Learn more about Tip Top Thrift Shop on their website at TipTopThriftShop.org and at Facebook.com/TipTopThriftShop/.
Pop Tabs for Ronald McDonald House
- Pop tabs may be small in size, but they have a big impact. Your aluminum can tab donations help light the way for families at Omaha's Ronald McDonald House who recycled approximately 35 million pop tabs last year, the money from which helps pay their electric bill each month.
- Why pop tabs and not the entire can? Because pop tabs are smaller, easier to store, and are paint-free pure aluminum which increases their value and profit when recycled. So please pull your tabs for Ronald McDonald House but be sure to recycle the cans as well!
- Please place your pop tabs in the Outreach Center (upper level, Room 204).

Heartland Hope Mission
- Heartland Hope Mission is more than a pantry. It is a faith-based organization that helps working poor families by providing food, clothing, hygiene items, SNAP assistance, Bible studies, prayer, community referrals, and employment resources to help clients rise above poverty.
- We hold Outreach Events where we serve at their locations in South O and West O and we participate in various service projects as needs arise.
- Learn more at HeartlandHopeMission.org.
Prayer Shawl Ministry:
- Pick up a prayer shawl in the Outreach Center any time for you or a loved one in need.
- Prayer Shawl Ministry reaches those in need of comfort with Christian love. As each shawl is knit or crocheted, we ask God to bless the one who will receive it. After each shawl is completed, it is offered a final blessing before it is given away.
- Yarn is collected in the Outreach Center for making the shawls. Twenty ounces or 700 yards of yarn are needed for each shawl.
- Learn more about this ministry on our Prayer Shawl Ministry page.
Women of St. Thomas
- Come make quilts for Project Linus, Lutheran World Relief, and Camp Carol Joy Holling Quilt Auction. Come sew dresses for Little Dresses for Africa.
- Meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 2:00 pm and the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in Room 225. All are welcome!
