Join us in service and fellowship as we sponsor a Meal-Packing Event for Heartland Kids Against Hunger! Come be spirit-led in joy and self-fed in love for those in need!
All are welcome to participate! This is a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to experience a service event with you and to meet our church family. Invite them today!
STLC is sponsoring and hosting a Meal-Packing Event for Heartland Kids Against Hunger, an organization which facilitates meal-packing events so that mass quantities of vitamin-rich meals can be served to children and families in some of the most malnourished and impoverished corners of our world, including areas right here in the Heartland.
The STLC Council has approved the use of funds from our Community Impact Fund to sponsor the purchase of a pallet of food provided by Heartland Kids Against Hunger. This pallet will help us reach our goal of 10,000 nutrient-filled rice & veggie meals to be distributed by local food banks. All materials are covered in the sponsorship and every dollar goes toward packing meals.
We provide the volunteers! During this event, we will work for 60-90 minutes to package, seal, and box the actual meals. The meals have been formulated by food scientists to provide a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by an undernourished child’s body and mind. The food is acceptable to the broad diversity of ethnic tastes and religious differences and is very easy to prepare, requiring only 6 cups of boiling water to make a complete meal. Despite the simplicity of the food’s content, it is a nutritionally complex and well-balanced meal.
There is room for 50 volunteers in the packing lines at this event. All ages are welcome! (The Heartland Kids Against Hunger website says ages 8-80!)
There are two steps to sign up to volunteer:
