The Care Ministry Team is focused on providing prayer and care to congregation members in need of support.
The Care Ministry Prayer Team is a group of trained volunteers who regularly and faithfully pray for those who have requested prayer, either for themselves, or for those they care about.
The Care Ministry Visitor Team consists of trained volunteers who offer compassionate, one-on-one visits to individuals in need of support and encouragement. Whether you are facing surgery, hospitalization, recovering from illness, homebound, or living in a care facility, our Care Visitors are available to walk alongside you during this season of life.
St. Thomas Care Visitors are equipped to provide comfort, a listening ear, prayer, and caring support to those experiencing illness, grief, major life transitions, or other challenges. As an extension of the church's care ministry, they help ensure that no one has to face difficult circumstances alone. Some Care Visitors are also trained to offer home communion during their visits.
Launched in 2026, the scope of the Care Ministry is to provide practical, emotional, and spiritual support to the congregation and to come alongside those who are in need. Whether it be walking with someone during their grief journey, supporting someone as they take steps toward recovery, visiting the homebound or hospitalized, or simply offering a compassionate listening ear, these trained individuals are equipped and ready to meet people where they are.
Members of the Care Ministry receive training in the theology of care, prayer, confidentiality, boundaries, listening, and pastoral care, meet regularly for additional training, and are commissioned for their role as Care Ministers.
