Choristers is a children’s choir for Grades 1-5 that is part of our WAM (Worship Arts & Music) program and includes training on proper use of the voice (breathing, articulation, and presentation). This group sings regularly for the 10:00 am Contemporary Worship. Choristers is led by Jason Horner, Director of Music Ministries, assisted on piano by Judy Oleson.
WAM (Worship Arts and Music) is a program for children in Grades 1-5. Children participate in music learning, Bible study, games, crafts, and activities, and learn about the use of the voice and musical instruments as tools for worship that express the heart of God.
WAM meets each Wednesday throughout the academic year, 5:45-7:30 pm in the Music Room (upper level, Room 220) and Room 100 (lower level).
Opportunities for participation include:
- 5:45-6:15 pm - Choristers is a children’s choir that includes training on proper use of the voice (breathing, articulation, and presentation). - 6:15-7:30 pm - WAM (Worship Arts & Music)
- Resonate and Chimers is an instrumental music ensemble that uses children’s chimes, handbells, Boomwhackers, and other pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments to foster the development of rhythmic skills, physical coordination, and listening skills. This group performs regularly for the 10:00 am Contemporary Worship and will be featured during special programs and services throughout the year. Students do not need prior experience reading music or ringing bells. Resonate and Chimers are led by Jason Horner, Director of Music Ministries.
- Bible study, games, crafts, and prayer are led by Anna Howard, Children's Ministry Director.
- Christmas Program: Choristers and WAM students present a children's Christmas Program each December. Rehearsals are held Wednesdays during WAM.
